Niños de Guatemala

The overall mission of the NGO Niños de Guatemala (NDG) is to help building a better future for Guatemala. NDG aims to do this through providing Guatemalan disadvantaged children and adu lts with education and opportunities to develop themselves. NDG consists of the schools Nuestro Futuro in Ciudad Vieja and El Porvenir in San Lorenzo el Cubo, an office in Antigua and offices in the Netherlands, USA and France. Moreover, a Básico – a Guatemalan middle school – is currently under construction.

NDG’s three values are self-sufficiency, a better future through education, and local community. In order to accomplish self-sufficiency, NDG operates – amongst others – two commercial ventures: The Experience Guatemala Tour and Cambio Spanish School (www.cambiospanishschool.com), both donating all profits to the NGO. To continue its mission, the NGO is looking for a Social Business Manager.

Social Business

Cambio Spanish School (Cambio) is a business start-up, initiated in the beginning of 2013 by NGO Niños de Guatemala, following the principles of profit-for-non-profit. As a social business, Cambio aims to make a difference in the social development of low-income families in Guatemala as well as to provide high quality Spanish instruction. Through focusing on these objectives, Cambio aims to grow into an important player among Spanish schools in Guatemala.

In addition, Niños de Guatemala operates a commercial venture called “The Experience Guatemala Tour”. On this unique tour, tourists visit NDG schools, local businesses, and the community where most NDG children and their families live. The tour generates funds for NDG schools, and participants learn about social issues in Guatemala.
